Population: Elementary age students, or other students working on beginning english skills
Goals: Each song is written to specifically target increased understanding of an english concept and/or increased ability to complete an english concept independently
Description: The packet includes 4 songs and 2 pages of other music-based strategies that have proven to be successful in classroom settings to increase student success on english skills. All songs were approved by classroom teachers for language and concept explanations. Concepts include answering and using different "wh" word questions, using and identifying adjectives, on-task reading, and reading comprehension. The appropriate chords, lyrics, and accompanying visuals are included with each intervention. Additionally, each intervention includes a list of directions and/or adaptations and suggestions. All interventions are designed for individual use and instruction but can be adapted to fade out prompting and increase independence, for handing off to classroom teachers/parents, and for use with groups.
